Being an independent artist with limited funds, I’m always trying to
find the most cost effective way to market and promote my music. With my
new EP, Back 2 Tha Crib near completion, I found a new way to get a more
professional looking CD package together without paying a professional
price. My days of scribbling all over my CD’s with a Sharpie are
officially over
The secret weapon I’ll be utilizing this time around is a customized
rubber stamp which leaves a permanent impression on almost any surface.
I wanted my CD’s to have that thermal printed look but I didn’t have
thermal printing money. Plus, I don’t have to order CD’s in huge amounts
in order to get a cheaper price per disc at places like a
discmakers.com. Instead, I’ll probably just be buying blank CD’s and
cases from them to do it myself.
I went to rubberstampchamp.com and bought an Ultifast stamp which I was
able to customize online and it cost me about $45 after taxes and
shipping. Now all I gotta do is burn my Back 2 Tha Crib EP on blank
silver top disc and STAMP em.
That’s just one of many downsides to being an independent artist at the
very bottom. I still gotta burn my own CD’s and package them and for all
of yall that that do the same, you know that this process can take all
damn day. But, at the end of it all, I have a damn near professional
looking CD ready for pushin’ and I GOT IT 4 CHEAP.
